Thank you Claire for coordinating this trip. With the recent snow, I think the conditions will be the best that we have had in a number of years.
For those of you Driving…A reminder: Please be certain that you bring snow chains for your car. Please be certain that they are the proper size for your car tires (they come in different sizes). Also, some cars have limited clearance in their wheel wells, so cannot use tire chains…you would need to get tire cables instead. The people at the auto parts store should be able to help you. We will be driving up at night on Friday night, so the roads could very well be icy, so there is a chance that we will need chains. If you do not have them, the CHP will not let you go past their check points. Besides, it is not safe to go without them if the roads are icy.
Since Claire will be going up early on Friday to take care of our lodging, I will be leading the group up the mountain on Friday night. We will be meeting in the Carmenita Middle School parking lot at 6:00 PM. Please be on time.
For the drivers, please have a full tank of gas. Drivers, please send me your cell phone number so that I can make a list to give to everyone driving.
Also, If any of you have walkie talkies, please bring them. Sometimes up in the mountains, cell phones do not work so it will be good to have walkie talkies. Also, when on the slopes, it is good for some of the Scouts to have walkie talkies so we can communicate with each other.
A couple feet of fresh snow awaits us :) Looking forward to a great weekend of skiing / snow boarding!!!!
Thanks
Question: Shery, First I want to thank you for all the trouble you took in putting our orders together. We didn't ski/snowboard today(Sunday), but came back earlier instead because of the snow.I remember you told me that the unused tickets are good for use anytime later. How are we going to prove that those tickets are not used? Could you sepcify a little bit for me on how to use those tickets later so I can inform the parents.
Thank you very much. Keep dry and safe in the snow.
Claire
Answer: Hi Claire, How it works is that any unused tickets will hold their dollar value forever. An unused ticket cannot simply be used on another day, it will need to be taken to a ticket window and the dollar amount will be used toward that day's purchase. Please be sure to tell the other members of your group to keep the backing on their ticket/s, otherwise there will be no way to prove that it is unused. If the ticket was already placed on someone's clothing, it is considered used. Also, if someone has a package (lift, lesson and rental), they will need to keep the entire package together.
I hope your group enjoyed their day on Saturday, it's a shame the weather turned so cold yesterday.
Take care,
Shery August

On our ski / snowboard trip the weekend before last, the decision was made not to ski / snowboard on the 2nd day because of severe weather conditions.
At the Committee Meeting - February 2008 last night, it was decided to provide the Scouts with an opportunity to ski / snowboard with the Troop on Saturday, February 23rd to make up for the "lost day" - it will be a one day turnaround trip (i.e., we will NOT be staying overnight).
Below is a list of those Scouts and adults that were signed up and paid to ski / snowboard on that Sunday. Please respond back to me ASAP if you are interested and will commit to going on the February 23rd date.
If you are unable or not interested in going on that day, then we will see if there are other Scouts or adults in the Troop that would like to use that ticket / lesson and they will reimburse you for the cost of that ticket / voucher. If we do not find someone who wants to use your ticket / voucher, then we will return the ticket / lesson voucher to you for you to use with your family another day.
Everyone who is interested in going, please let me know (even if you did not originally sign up). We will need drivers again, so please let me know if you are willing to drive and how many seatbelts you have in your vehicle.
Thank you very much. Please respond ASAP. Looking forward to another great day on the slopes.
Glenn
