Scout Leadership

The Troop is mainly run by the scouts, they are provided with various opportunities to work leadership and organization skills among their peers. Scout leadership is referred as 'Patrol Leadership Council' or 'Green Bar'. They participate in the Green Bar Planning Meeting to plan for the upcoming events. Each of these positions are held by scouts for a period of 6 months. To apply for any of the positions please submit applications to the scoutmaster.

Why Volunteer

Once upon a time, there were four people: Their names were Everybody, somebody, Nobody, and Anybody. Whenever there was an important job to be done. Everybody was sure the Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. When Nobody did it, Everybody got angry because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought that Somebody would do it, but Nobody realized that Nobody would do it. So consequently Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have done in the first place.

This is important when it is time to change Leadership in the troop. Everybody should not expect Somebody to do the job that Anybody can do. When that happens Nobody steps up to do the job that Anybody can do, then Somebody has to do the job that Anybody can do and Everybody loses.

Positions Available

Position	Description
Senior Patrol Leader	Top junior leader in the troop. He leads the patrol leaders' council and, in consultation with the Scoutmaster, appoints other junior leaders and assigns specific responsibilities as needed.
Assistant Senior Patrol Leader	Fills in for senior patrol leader in his absence. He is also responsible for training and giving direction to the quartermaster, scribe, troop historian, librarian, and instructors.
Troop Historian	Collects and maintains troop memorabilia and information on former troop members.
Librarian	Keeps troop books, pamphlets, magazines, audiovisuals, and merit badge counselor list available for use by troop members.
Instructor	Teaches one or more advancement skills to troop members, an older scout 1st Class and above.
Chaplain Aide	Assists in troop religious services and promotes religious emblems program.
Junior Assistant Scoutmaster	A Scout 16 or older who supervises and supports other boy leaders as assigned.
Patrol Leader	Gives leadership to members of his patrol and represents them on the patrol leaders' council.
Assistant Patrol Leader	Fills in for the patrol leader in his absence. (Does not qualify as a leadership position for rank advancement purposes)
Troop Guide	Advisor and guide to the new Scout patrol.
Den Chief	Works with a Cub Scout den as a guide.
Quartermaster	Responsible for troop supplies and equipment.
Scribe	The troop secretary.
Bugler	Plays the bugle at Troop events.
OA Troop Representative	The liaison between the troop and the OA. Promotes OA and camping within the troop.
Junior Webmaster	Works with the Troop Webmaster in maintaining our Troop 693 website.
