Details

Canoe and Kayak on San Diego's beautiful Mission Bay with the opportunity to earn the San Diego BSA High Adventure Award "Old Salty Rat". This requires 'Canoe Merit Badge' which you can get at Summer Camp - July 2008.

Campout on Fiesta Island and enjoy one of the LAST weekends of Summer 2008 - ON THE BEACH!!!

Along with the fun you will have the opportunity for rank advancement activities; Tenderfoot to 1st Class, fire building/starting, camping requirements, canoeing and kayak skill building. There will be a Troop Campfire in the Amphitheater for an evening of fun and friendship.

Additional Things to Pack

  • Wear dry weave polyester kind of tshirts so they can dry fast if they get wet (avoid all cotton shirts).
  • Scouts going on the salty rat trip should bring a dry bag in which they can keep their 10 essentials, heavy snacks, etc.
  • Scouts should have a pair of old tennis shoes or water shoes while canoeing/kayaking, and some thick socks…may be wool socks…..
