What to Bring

  1. Scouts: bring your ideas, convincing positive experiences …

Format

This is a scout-lead meeting:

  1. SPL (Senior Patrol Leader) or his designated ASPL (Assistant Senior Patrol Leader) will lead the meeting,
  2. Scouts will brain-storm the outing ideas
  3. Scouts will discuss the ideas
  4. Scouts will vote for those outing ideas
  5. Result: a wish-list of outing candidates, in priority order, for the coming year

Later, the adults will, based on this list, consult the local school calendars, other factors (cost, logistics, etc.), and then decide:

  1. Which outing
  2. When
  3. Who will coordinate will be done on Mandatory Parent Meeting - 2015 on 9/28. There we will have the outing calendar finalized with coordinators assigned.

Outing Ideas

As a high adventure troop, we like to promote outings such as:

  • Backpacking - Grand Canyon, Zion, Mt. Whitney
  • Rock Climbing
  • Cycling - Road, Mountain
  • Snow Sports
  • Whitewater, Canoeing

Visit this link Outings List to have more ideas. Of course, ideas should not be limited to what mentioned above.

Note to Parents

It is time for you to look at the list and think what outings that you always want to coordinate/participate. There are many benefits for you to coordinate/participate these activities: for example,

  1. Your scout will be proud of you
  2. Opportunity to know other parents
  3. Know about other scouts
  4. Your inner child will enjoy these activities with your scouts

No experience required, as long as you want to coordinate, we have experienced parents to help you. Particularly we like to encourage the new parents to coordinate/participate. You can also team up with other parents to coordinate an outing. If you have questions about what are involved in coordinating an outing, the link here Planning for Outing will help.
As soon as you decide to coordinate any of the coming outings, please let me know as soon as possible.
