Eagle Project Proposal

  • Committee moved to approve Ansh Sancheti's Eagle Project proposal. Ansh's project would benefit St. Mary's Episcopal Church, Los Angeles. The project includes the removal of rusty section of fencing and installing a wrought iron fence surrounding the property next to the church that has been acquired by the church. The project will benefit the church by providing protection from vandalism and by not having to pay for temporary fencing.

  • Wade Hatch, Frontier District Executive is retiring from BSA. He will be missed for his service and commitment to the District.

Scoutmaster’s Report

Alok Sancheti

  • Held one on one's with some Life scouts
  • patches and Eagle neckerchiefs will be distributed at the next COH
  • New scouts had the training to setup tent and first aid before Camporee
  • Camporee was successful considering the rain; All scouts, especially the new scouts did pretty well
  • Greenbar application is out. 17th of April is the deadline to apply; rollover in 1st week of May; ISLT training on May 5th.

  • Purchased mike and cargo nets for the troop
  • 6 lanterns to be purchased for use in outings
  • Request for 2 toolboxes for Totin' Chip and Firem'n chit equipment
  • Regulators for 5 burner stoves not good. Committee moved to approve the purchase of 4 regulators for burner stoves $20 each
  • Walkie-Talkies running out of batteries. Looking out for sale at Costco to replace batteries

  • 2 scouts will be going for their Eagle Character Board

  • Set up training for first aid
  • Totin Chip and Fireman Chit done at Camporee.
  • Swimming MB for Summer Camp will be set up by Mrs. Nishibayashi (Swimming MB requirements need a lot of energy. Scouts need to be able to swim well for completing requirements)

Apr 7-11 Grand Canyon - 2012 Andrew Chien, Santos Kadi Grand Canyon 3 adults and 8 scouts went. It was a very good experience. The view was fantastic. All the scouts especially younger scouts did pretty well. Troop can try to apply for 2 groups next year as there are only 11 spots in one group.
Apr 20 Camporee - 2012 Glenn Hiu, Minchi Cheng Firestone Scout Reservation 40 scouts and 7 adults signed up. 3 new scouts signed up. 1 scout dropped out. It was an interesting camping with rain. It was good that we made the decision to go
May 19 - 20 Whitewater Rafting-2012 Steve Lin, William Szu Kernville 15 scouts and 8 adults signed up so far. ~$180 per scout; Collecting final payment on April 2nd. About 3 hrs drive to the site
Jun 23-30 Long Term Bike Ride - 2012 Jay Chiang, Dennis Gorospe, Ed Johnson Along the central CA coast All campsites have been booked.18 scouts and 13 adults to go. Training going very well. Training help to build confidence in scouts. $300 per scout including Amtrack. $100 for parents taking Amtrack. Monterey Bay very excited and looking forward to receive the troop. Jun 29 - Jul 4 Annual Fundraising - 2012 Claire Peer Artesia City Approved. May 21st is the fundraising parent meeting
Jul 15 - 20 Summer Camp - 2012 Frances Gorospe, Charles Cho Camp Mataguay, San Diego 31 scouts signed up. 2 or 3 will be attending NYLT. June 7th is the Pre-Summer Camp Orientation.
