Eagle Project Proposal

Kendall Nishibayashi

• Kendalls project proposal consisted of redwood planter compose, installing a redwood bench with gravel, putting in marigold flowers into flowerbeds, placing wood chips and removing existing plants and bushes to make room for a plaque. Church will be covering cost of materials. Committee moved to approve project and proposed dates are 5/8/10 and 5/29/10. Will be handing out information at scout meeting.

• Received a refund of $500 from the city of cerritos and Thank you to Melody Cheng who received a contribution of $400 from SCE for voluteer hours which has been donated to our troop.

Scoutmaster’s Report

Chad Hoang

• Scoutmaster Conference - 0 SMC.
• Green Bar Finalized-New Leadership for 4/19/10-10/10/10 will be announced at the next scout meeting.
• Remember to dress in Full Class A Uniforms the 1st Monday of each month. Consequence of being sent home will be in affect starting April.

Treasurer Report

Mi Kyong

• Ending cash balance (Details on file).
• Just a reminder to adult coordinators that an outing template must be presented and approved by committee so that any refunds can be given.
• Committee approved that deadlines for expense reports to be submitted is no later than two committee meeting after an outing has ended so that the outing coordinator can prepare and submit report at a committee meeting in order to close budget.

Quartermaster Report

Victor Hsiang

• Reminder to the Grand Canyon Crew to return all gear cleaned to the next scout meeting.
• Victor noticed that during inventory check of tents that 2 scouts returned tents uncleaned. Outing coordinators, please make sure you use the form for checking out tagged gear at the end of an outing, making sure that scouts return items cleaned. Will be ordering more green T-shirts for scouts attending summer camp.

Registration Report

Cynthia Dang

• Working on setting up google group registration to help in the distribution of mass emails sent out. Registration Deadline is 4/15/10, after which all communication will be done through google groups only.
• An email has been sent out to all for registration to be done. Recommendation is to use your full name.

Eagle Guide

• Class of 2010 (Turn 18 in 2010)
• Tameem Breik (October 27th) – All requirements for Life Scout need to be completed by April 26th (including Scoutmaster conference and Board of Review) for him to still have the opportunity to earn the rank of Eagle Scout.
• Joseph Moon (March 23rd) – All paperwork completed, waiting for eagle character board.
• Kendall Nishibayashi (July 9th) – Presented project to the Troop Committee and was approval.
• Justin Wiguna (November 5th) – Project completed. 1 merit badges left to earn.
• Brian Choi (August 8th) – No longer pursuing Eagle Scout.
• Class of 2011 (Turn 18 in 2011)
• All Scouts in Class of 2011 are now Life Scouts: Roland Gomez (January birthday), Keith Banuelos (February birthday), Mark Chern (October birthday), Matt Chern (October birthday)

• Sign off for rank requirements are being completed.
• Fitness requirement are currently getting started on 4/25/10 and 5/2/10

Advancement Report

• Next Board of Review scheduled for Thursday, March 18th, 2010. Thank You to all the parent volunteers.
• Susan is working on Green and Gold program.

• 2010 calendar is updated. If an email is sent to you, please respond ASAP so that information regarding outings can be posted in an efficient manner.
• Updated pictures for Grand Canyon Trip are up.

Medicals Chair Report

• Remember Medicals Forms for adults required if you are participating in a high adventure outing. Scouts medical forms are required for all outings. No exceptions.
• Reminder to all outing coordinators: All medicals must be updated prior to the outing for scouts and parents. Check Medical Form Expiry link. See Uttara to turn in all updated medicals ASAP.

Adult Training

• Jay has put together a module on the Adult Training page for parents to view and Richard has posted LA/Orange County Links. Check them out and see all the available training going on along with online classes you can do in a short time to become certificated in various areas. (BSA E-learning Center)
• New Parent Orientations ended 4/5/10, except gear orientation.

April 3-8	Grand Canyon - April 2010	Andrew Chien	Grand Canyon	The crew consisted of 6 adults and 16 scouts. Training hikes truly paid off and made this trip a rewarding experience for all. It was an amazing priceless adventure that those who attended should be proud of. Congratulation Grand Canyon Crew.
May 21-22	Camporee - May 2010	Jaime Banuelos and Asmath Noor	Whittier Narrows	Will be working on making an online reservation for our troop. Scouts should reserve on their own. Fee is now $31 (5/21-5/23). Committee approved a additional costs of $25 per scout
June 19-20	Whitewater Rafting - June 2010	Jas Jahic and Ed Johnson	Lake Isabella	Swimming Merit Badge required. Three hours of rafting. Will be arriving at 2:30 Saturday. 21 scouts signed up so far.
July 18-24	Summer Camp - July 2010	Christina Preciado	Camp Whittsett	Next depoit of $100 due Monday 4/19/10. Christina and Cynthia will be attending district meeting to gather information regarding summer camp program.

Discussion Items and Other Business:

1. Log Cabin - August 2010 deposit of $100 was made. This activity will take place July 31-August 7. 13 scouts and 4 adults are signed up.
2. Budget Meeting Review: Committee approved the Annual Troop Dues proposal, effective September 2010.
3. Committee approved that deadlines for expense reports to be submitted is no later than two committee meetings after an outing has ended so that the outing coordinator can prepare and submit report at a committee meeting in order to close budget.
