We will be alerted each time a walker registers under Troop 693
Note: We will check-in as a team and walker information/donation will be delivered in person. Wrist bands and t-shirts will be picked up at this time. Everyone must be registered on line in order to compile walker information prior to check-in. This is a "fun and easy walk" to raise funds for Children’s Hospital of Orange County. Again, we will be walking "in memory of Joyson". Hope to see you there!
We will meet in front of letter "O" right outside of California Adventure at 6:00AM for the walk. T-shirts/wrist bands will be picked up on October 14th, and they will be dropped off at Glenn's house. Walkers can pick up their t-shirts and wristbands directly from Glenn. Anything that hasn't been picked up will be taken to Disneyland on the day of the walk. Please remember that all walkers must have a wristband in order to walk, so please do not forget to bring your wristbands.
Thanks Jeanne for cordianting the walk, you did a great job in working through the minute details. Horray to all the walkers for being a part of this great cause.
First of all, thank you Jeanne for organizing this community service project for our Troop. I really appreciate all of the time and effort that you put into the CHOC Walk for our Troop.
Thanks also to all of those who walked and those who supported us in our effort to help an organization that does so much for the children in our community - CHOC.
William and Serena, It was so nice to see you and have the both of you and Isaac walk with us again this year. While we walk in memory of Joyson once a year, I think about him often and continue to be inspired by his courage and faith.
For those of you who did not know Joyson, he was a young man who took the Scout Oath and his "Duty to God" very seriously. He was a Star Scout and actually had his Star Board of Review while at CHOC via a conference call while undergoing chemotherapy for leukemia. On March 31, 2008, at the age of 14, after a year of treatments and many weeks and months spent at CHOC, Joyson left us to be with the God that he so dearly loved. And though he was not able to complete all of the official requirements for the rank of Eagle Scout, he was awarded the "Spirit of the Eagle" award by the National Office of the Boy Scouts of America for exemplifying the qualities of an Eagle Scout and the ideals of Scouting. He was a young man who always brought a smile to my face and warmed my heart, even through his courageous battle with leukemia. I still miss him very much.
Glenn
It was a festive pre-dawn walk at Disneyland! We were joined by many friends and families of Troop 693, and collectively raised $4,622.00 for the hospital. Thank you to all of you who came out to support this wonderful cause! Hope to see more of you next year!
Jeanne
