Close previewTo all scouts and scouters:
As coordinators of this backpacking trip, Jay Chiang and I are thankful for so many things. First we are thankful that everyone came home safe and sound, and hopefully had lots of fun backpacking. We are also thankful for the great weather during the weekend. And we want to echo what Victor Hsiang and Andrew Chien had written, that we are thankful for the enthusiastic participations of so many scouts and the help and support of so many adult leaders. Jay and I are definitely proud to be part of such a robust, and energetic troop.
To Victor Peer and Brian Hsiang, you guys did an awesome job as SPL and ASPL. You were calm and composed under pressure, and you did not resort to yelling and screaming in managing the scouts. Instead, I believe you have the respect of your peer. There is a saying that says "A great leader should not be feared, but should be respected", and both of you certainly fit that description.
To all the patrol leaders and scouts, like Mr. Hsiang said, we are pleased to see how you work together in harmony to accomplish your tasks. All of you did well on your hike; I heard no complaint from any scout. At camp, hopefully you had fun playing and relaxing, and when it was time to work, you did it responsibly. I personally was impressed with all of you on Sunday morning when all the tents and gears/equipment were packed in a timely manner. Great job to all.
To all the adults who participated in this trip, it is always a learning experience to spend time with you, not to mention fun. To Glenn, Andrew, Alok and Victor, our appreciation for all the input and advice you gave us during the preparation and during the trip. Thanks also to all the drivers who transported everyone safely during the trip, with special mention to Michael and William who came to support us even though their sons could not make it.
We defintely want to thank Victor and Christina for feeding us so well during the trip, providing balanced and nutritious meals. Last but not least, we enjoyed the company of Serena and Phil who joined us for the day-hike portion. Looking forward to more hiking trips with you guys.
Note: Because of time constraint, the younger scouts did not get to the "promised" Pt Mugu peak with its beautiful ocean view, and we did not get to do the geocaching activity. However, I heard from several scouts that they are interested and curious about geocaching, so if there is enough interest, let's plan an outing for this newly adopted BSA activity.
Thank you everyone,
Santos Kadi & Jay Chiang
It has always been fun being in the outdoors, to be in the nature in its true form. Had a great time with you all. Santos and Jay you did an excellent job in finding another great place to hike and with detail covered. Thanks for providing the scouts this opportunity to be in the outdoors.
Thanks to Victor P and Brian H for keeping the boys going and making this and enjoyable trip for them. Jonathan you did a fine job of being the Quartermaster. Philmont crew you did an excellent job of team work. Keep up the good work.
Special kudos to Serenea and Phil on their first hike with the Troop. Victor H, thank you for taking care of all the gear distribution and keeping it all straight. To all the adults you are a great bunch of people had lot of fun hiking with you all. Looking forward to many more adventures with you all.
